FOJ #5 is a go!

Digital Webbing | Fist of Justice No Comments »

Well, luck is on our side. This issue of Fist of Justice didn’t look like it was gonna happen due to low overall orders of the issue. This series has been a battle since the get-go. There just aren’t enough readers reserving the title with their local comic shops.

Anyways, our Diamond rep got the order to cancel the book but pushed for distribution because of our recent FCBD edition. Of course this means it may be the last issue distributed through the distributor. It may also be the last issue in single issue print form.

We’ve been working on the series for a while now and have up to issue #8 finished and are starting development on #9 as I type this. How are we going to get these issues out, you ask? Well, we’ve signed a deal to get FOJ on the iPhone/iPod through the Apple Store. We’re also thinking about collecting the issues into once or twice a year trade paperback releases. More details to follow.

Fist of Justice #6

The sixth issue of Fist of Justice is scheduled for a September release. Will we nail it? Of course! Know why? Becuase the issue is already drawn and colored. We’re currently working on issue #7 at the moment.

Our hopes are to keep FOJ out there every other month for as long as we can keep getting distributed. So if you’re a fan of the series — you NEED to have your local shop order these for you.

Here’s the solicit info for this issue:
A blast from Marc Mason’s past shows up and turns on the heat.  Because you demanded it! The return of Blaze!  And just who is this old man claiming to know who Fist of Justice really is?  Trust us when we say, he’s going to change Fist of Justice’s life forever!

Written by Mike Imboden, illustrated by Pow Rodrix, colored by Edemilson Alexandre, lettered by Ed Dukeshire, edited by Mike Exner III, cover by Chad Hardin

Plot: Fist of Justice returns to crime fighting after 30 years of being locked away in an asylum. Upon returning to Charm City he discovers a new Fist of Justice has taken his place and this one isn’t so nice.

This was a very interesting read, as the story for Fist of Justice has been thoroughly thought out and developed to create a complex look at the superhero genre. Spanning 30 years through continuity we see what happens when a hero fails and the repercussions of him giving up. It’s nothing groundbreaking, but its fun nonetheless.

SIGNIFICANCE: Digital Webbing was wise to choose Fist of Justice as its Free Comic Book Day contribution, considering the inevitable success of X-Men Origins: Wolverine and the mainstream attention superheroes will receive as a result. Further, Digital Webbing is actually one part publishing house, one part on-line creative network, so newbies to comics could benefit from the knowledge that such a traditionally print-oriented medium has become a prevalent, multifaceted presence on the Internet, too. Personally, while I’ve read some Digital Webbing titles in the past, I’d never explored their website before today, and I’m impressed at the depth of their talent and resources.

Fist of Justice #5

Digital Webbing | Fist of Justice No Comments »

The fifth issue of Fist of Justice is scheduled for release this July - although don’t be surprised if it shows up in June (if your local comic shop orders it). The issue is finished, all it needs is lettering and copy editing and it’s ready to shoot off to the printer.

In this issue: As if being in a cartoon wasn’t bad enough, Fist of Justice finds himself locked in a race with the fate of the earth at stake. Introducing “Fist of Justice Lad” and an ending featuring the in-continuity return of a popular villain that you can’t miss! And what’s any of this have to do with the twisted Dr. Dibuk?!?

Remember, Fist of Justice #1 is this year’s Free Comic Book Day book. So when you’re picking that up at your shop, don’t forget to ask for Fist of Justice #5 which happens to available for ordering through your comic shop owner (yeah, we timed it that way). ‘Nuff said.

Jason Henderson (Sword of Dracula) created a new blog focusing on everything Dracula. Check it out at blogofdracula.blogspot.com

Speaking of Sword of Dracula, this month should see the debut of the all-new 3-issue mini-series. Look for it something at the end of this month or beginning of February. Just a small reminder; purchase the comics as we’re not sure there will be a trade paperback collection.

E-Man: Curse of the Idol

The third E-Man comic from Digital Webbing was sent to the printer today. This should put the book in the distributor’s hands for Jan 5th, giving it a in store date of Jan 14th. Yeah, we know it was originally slated for October but we had to pack all kinds of extra stuff in the pages. The story itself runs 25 pages, and the extra stuff includes a 35th Anniversary editorial and a great interview with Joe Staton. Oh yeah, we swapped out the cover at the last minute.

Special thanks to Michael Watkins and John Anderson for delivering the colors to us. Also a big shout-out to Kel Nuttall for stepping in to letter the issue.

This is a very limited run, so if your shop didn’t order it for you, you may have a tough time finding this book. We printed pretty close to the print run with only handfuls to spare being sent off to the creators.

Our next E-Man appearance will most likely be in an issue of Fist of Justice, you are reading Fist of Justice, right? Stay tuned to this blog for updates.
