Prime Cuts / Sneak Peek

BRPCtest.jpgOkay, check this out, DiPascale and I were brainstorming some cover ideas and thought it’d be pretty cool to showcase Rayne’s great cast of villains. Since the Prime Cuts series is so heavily reliant on the actual video games themselves, it made sense to toss these characters on the covers.

But I wanted to take it a step further and borrow an idea I’ve seen done in the past where a character appears to have taken over someone’s title. Thus, this was born.

This isn’t the actual incentive cover for #4, it’s a preliminary mock to test out the concept. Which cover will Ferril appear on? And which other popular Rayne villains will get their own covers? Stay tuned.

Prime Cuts #2 Review @ Reporting on Marvels…

Prime Cuts #2 - Ah, the closest I come to supporting indie comics, I suppose. I dig this cover (Bilbao cover), if only because there are about three different ways I interpret it. 1) She’s gesturing towards the creature, in sort of a nonchalant “ta-da!”. 2) She’s about to get attacked by it, and is flippantly dismissing it as a threat. 3) It almost looks like she’s about to pet it on the side of its head.

BR003_03.jpgPrime Cuts #1 hits on February 27th with #2 already at the printer. So Prime Cuts #3 will be here in no time. We’re targeting an August release and have already begun work on Prime Cuts #4 (with the return of Steve Scott, artist from BloodRayne Twin Blades, working on a short story to match his cover).

Here’s a peek at a great, new BloodRayne artist who we hope to keep around for a long while. If not on BloodRayne, definitely something new we have planned by year’s end. Oscar Bazaldua is sure to build a huge following as more of his work is seen by comic book fans.
